Happy Birthday Julie! We interviewed Julie's mom as a birthday surprise so we could all get to know her better! Enjoy!

1.       What was the day of Julie’s birth like?

Jules was born on a snowy November day. I needed to be at the hospital by around 7 am.  I was being induced because the doctor did not want Julie going any longer.   Her Dad and I got there on time and things were going as planned. The doctor left  around 11 am and said it should be awhile.  Well, things started to move very quickly and around 1 pm she was born.   She was born before it was the norm to do an ultrasound to find out the sex of the child. Now, here was this perfect little girl with strawberry blond hair and a very good voice!

2.       What are some of your favorite memories of Julie as a child?

Julie came home to a big sister, Mom, and Dad. Her big sister Mandy loved to help with the new baby. As she grew she loved to dress up and play outdoors. She liked school, taking dance classes after school, and playing with friends in the neighborhood. I look back now and remember dressing both girls in frilly dresses, not really realizing that they might not like it.  I remember how happy I was when she wore my prom dress to her Junior Prom!

I loved watching my kids participate in their own activities. Julie loved to dance. First there was clogging and then ballet.  She went so far in ballet as to be en pointe. She is an excellent swimmer which comes from having a pool in the backyard. She always loved the water! At 3 years of age she walked off the side of the pool into the arms of our neighbor's daughter.  The neighbor told me I had better sign her up for lessons in the next new swim session. She had no fear of the water at all!

3.       If there were a blooper reel of Julie, what memory of yours would be on it?

One scary thing was when we thought we had lost her in the middle of the day. All the kids were outside playing in the neighborhood, when they came back to our house she was not there!   We searched everywhere, no Jules! Finally I went up stairs and there she was sound asleep on her bed.  When she woke up she said she was tired and went to sleep.  Simple as that.

4.       In your opinion, how did she develop into a healer of other people?

As Julie went to school in higher education and developed into a beautiful caring young woman, she opened her mind to the things around her, the things in nature, and trying to keep herself well. When she went to Utah State University she grew in ways I could not understand sometimes. I know she started to massage fellow students' shoulders when tension got high before finals there. That is when she decided to go to massage school and started a whole new path of learning. I am in awe of her knowledge of the body and the work she can do with just her hands. I know that it takes a toll on her emotionally sometimes.

5.       What makes you proud of Julie?

There are many things I am proud of her for!  Mostly that she is a wonderful child of God and Julie is constantly learning and growing. I am also proud of Julie's fearlessness to try new things and travel to new places. She is an enviable world traveler!

6.       Moms always gain a lot of wisdom from the roller coaster of life. What advice would you give Julie (and anyone) about life?

As a mother and someone who has gone through a lot of things in life. There is a lot of advice I could give but it is mostly just my ideas and things I have learned by the choices that I have made. Which boils down to:

  • Learn to know yourself and what matters to you
  • Have a strong faith in a higher being
  • Always watch what you say and how it comes out, such as tone of voice and facial expressions!
