What to Expect During Your First Lymphatic Drainage Massage in Connecticut
My Approach
When someone comes into the office in Connecticut for a Lymphatic Drainage massage, I look to treat the whole person and not just their one pain, as that is usually not the root cause of their aches, pains, or anxieties. I get as detailed a history as I can and then ask their body how best I can help it. I have many different modalities that I draw from so it’s hard to just do one, as they all correlate with each other and make the work more effective.
The lymphatic work I do is gentle touch with my hands to get the “rivers” in the body to flow where they should. This breaks up adhesions and scars unlike anything clients have seen before. By assessing your body and where lymph is building up, I can begin to gently open up the pathways the lymph drains through. It is not uncommon for fluid to build up behind a an area where the lymphatic system has been slowed, sluggish, or blocked. This is especially critical if someone has had an injury or surgery, as the lymphatic system is key in draining out the materials that they body no longer needs from the healing process.
I have taken many courses on lymphatic drainage and where the lymphatic system runs in our bodies. Gentle pressure applied along these pathways, along with my experience in helping thousands of people with lymphatic drainage, ensures that the process is very effective and painless. You may experience sensations on the table as lymph fluids begin to move (tingling, pulling sensation, coolness in fingers and toes, digestive/gurgling noises). After the session we chat about how it went and what you can try at home to ensure your lymph is draining effectively
What are the results?
When your lymph is drained from an area you can expect some, if not all, of the following:
- Less swollen appearance of your tissues
- This can be dramatic, especially in areas like the neck, face, hands and arms, and also if you have not had any lymphatic drainage massage in the past
- One of the fun parts of my job is having clients look in the mirror after our sessions
- Many clients begin having a taller, slimmer and straighter appearance
- A reduction in inflammation
- A reduction in pain
- An increased feeling of lightness and fluidity
- An increase in breathing capacity and energy
- An improved ability to handle life's stresses and curveballs with ease
- Clearer thoughts and better cognition
- An increase in mobility
- Improved flexibility and balance
- Faster Healing
- For those who are post-op/post surgery or healing from an injury, lymphatic drainage can help the tissues to expel their wastes and accelerate your healing.
- A necessity to urinate soon after the massage
- Lymph drains somewhere and that place is to your bladder!
- All a healthy and normal process
- A reminder from my to hydrate, hydrate, hydrate!
- Rivers in real life as well as in your body do best when they have plenty of water to flow through their channels!
How Should I Prepare for My Session? What Should I wear?

Why Choose Posture Massage in Connecticut?
In addition to helping to drain your lymph system, I also teach you how to use these techniques on yourself if you would like to know. In this way you can work on your body and help keep things flowing between sessions. I do not believe in gatekeeping knowledge that helps us all lead healthier lives.
Connecting with your body is important because it talks to you all the time; you just need to listen and be friends with it. The more you can listen to what your body says, the more you will know how to help it. Emotions are at the root of most things in the body. Once the emotional tags are gone, the body heals so much faster, as nothing is holding it down. The body does not want to be in pain, in fact it will actually do everything in its power to get out of it. Draining your lymphatic system is one great tool in your toolbox for this!
