Your Body Wants to Get Out Of Pain
Many of us have probably not thought directly about this concept. Your body wants to get rid of its pain and sickness. Our bodies are amazing at healing and processing life as it happens to us. Through life we can develop a lot of symptoms that can bring us pain and discomfort. It is our bodies who want to get to the root of these things and heal.
Many of the symptoms, including pain, are a way of our body letting us know that there is a problem. These symptoms are not generally the root cause of our dis- ease. For example diabetes and high blood pressure are both symptoms and are a way that our body is trying to protect itself. In both cases the body is trying to compensate for (and often over-compensates for) root problems that are happening. If we can identify the root cause of our pains and discomforts, we can often rid ourselves of the burdens that their symptoms become in our lives.
Your Body Will Not Lie to You
When we listen to our bodies they tell us the truth. Are you feeling fatigued and tired, the body is letting you know that it is tired and, aside from not getting enough sleep, your body may be fighting off a cold or dealing with a background issue that you are not completely aware of.
We often try to “push through” our symptoms in order to work or play. This can delay our feeling better and healing our bodies. I encourage all of my clients to get in touch and communicate with their bodies. Listen to what your body is saying to you. How can you do this? Ask it questions and listen. Sit still, clear your head, and ask simple questions to your body. It will answer your questions with feelings, thoughts, and impressions.
The better we get at listening to our bodies the better we will usually feel. In my day-to-day for example, when I am hungry I like to sit and ask my body what it want to eat. I communicate options and then see how my body and brain respond. For example, there are days when I ask if it would like ice cream and my body gives me a nauseous feeling. Other days, I feel joy when asking about the same food group. Our bodies are more in tune with what nutrients we need, way more than we give them credit.
There are days when I have asked my body if it wants one thing, and then I end up eating something entirely different based on the response my body gives me. There are definitely times when I ignore what my body tells me and usually I end up feeling tired and sick.
