Discovering My Passion for Massage Therapy

I have always been obsessed with anatomy and physiology since high school. In college I went camping for 3 months and gave people massages to help their bodies recover from the hikes or climbs. I helped my friends in college feel better when their backs or necks hurt and eventually was convinced I was good enough to pursue a career in massage therapy. I went to massage school and my life changed. The angels were singing when I was in classes, and I knew I found my calling.

In massage school, I loved craniosacral therapy and acupressure. I couldn’t see how to make a viable living, so I took the Structural Integration class after and fell in love with the 10 series created by Ida Rolf. After 3 years working at a ski resort, I gathered a following of clients and followed them to the east coast.

The Birth of Posture Massage and New Therapeutic Skills

In 2009, I moved to Boston, Massachusetts and started my own business, Posture. I mainly did Structural Integration and took classes from the Upledger Institute to develop my skills in craniosacral therapy and somatoemotional work. I learned how to talk to bodies and really trust the client’s “inner physician” which changed everything. Realizing I was just the assistant helped me be more efficient and effective at helping bodies correct whatever was ailing them. Teaching people how to connect with their bodies was a big part of healing and helping them see that dealing with the emotional side of life will greatly help the physical. Since moving to Stamford, Connecticut, I have focused more on lymphatic drainage therapy and brain work I learned mainly from the Chikly Institute.

The best part of my job is giving hope to people who have tried everything and finding that lymphatics or releasing the tension in the brain is the key to something ailing them. We often mistreat our bodies and I love being one part that is gentle and loving to help the body be in a more functional place.

Posture Massage’s Expansion and New Location

Now that I have my own space in Stamford, CT I feel at home with my best work yet to come. As I was putting it together, I was laughing at how it came together, as it’s nothing like I envisioned years ago. This new space is inviting to heal and transform. I love being in it and having my clients lay on my table more than any other space I have ever been in. This office has my heart and soul poured into it. I want to teach and help empower people to take control of their lives and make the best of it, and I am doing that for myself as well. I have so many people who have inspired me and helped me along the way to become who I am and am forever grateful for you.
